An introduction and guide to market Texas Longhorn Cattle successfully in 2026 ( This article is one in a series to follow in 2026)
If marketing your Texas Longhorn Cattle is on your mind, then this article is guaranteed to blow your mind. You may have tried to sell your Texas Longhorn Cattle with a few good results, limited exposure, or even no success at all. Either way, AI has transformed marketing as we know it. Professionals in the marketing industry are scratching their heads and reviewing their strategies.
The truth is that “AI first searches”, zero-click search environments, and the like have reshaped how we find information. What do these terms even mean?
And, as ranchers marketing our own Texas Longhorn Cattle, where do we begin?
Whether you are new to the Texas Longhorn Cattle industry or you have been a Longhorn rancher for decades (as we have), marketing is probably not everybody’s strong suit. Now, add AI into the mix with a changing marketing environment, and this forum becomes even more daunting.
Before we dive in, we feel it’s important to understand what we are NOT.
- GVR Longhorns is not a commercial operation in the full sense. We have always kept one longhorn bull or no bulls at any one time.
- We are also not qualified marketing professionals. So, if we can do it, anyone can! In fact, our social media accounts are relatively new, and we still do not have full exposure across the board. Our social media presence was initiated, in earnest, in 2018.
So how do we do it? How did we market Texas Longhorn Cattle and remain one of the top-viewed websites, if not the most viewed website, since 2018?
In this blog, we will share two simple tips to market Texas Longhorn cattle. This article is the beginning of a series, outlining the most important factors for breeders to market their Texas longhorn cattle and get results. We will also offer a free opportunity to assist our fellow Longhorn breeders who need a boost in the marketing department. In the next few months, we will expand with additional information we have found to be invaluable to our success.
All of us at GVRlonghorns are passionate about longhorns, especially maintaining the integrity of the breed. We are also sincere in offering our customers support for as long as they need help, in the short term and the long term. In fact, many of our customers have become really good friends over the years.
Our secret is simple. There is no secret, but you do need a plan.
Here are 2 simple tips to kick off your campaign and market Texas Longhorn Cattle with success.

A website that works!!
This may sound so simple, but you will be amazed at how many Texas Longhorn Cattle breeders do not have a website. And if they do, some of it may not be functional. Honestly, the maintenance part is ongoing. We struggle with it too, more than you know. But when we are alerted to a problem, it is not to be overlooked. We spend a good portion of our time reviewing our content. In addition, we rely on our own recognizance and that of our visitors. We have had many hiccups along the way, some minor and some major, that is par for the course. The most important factor is to ensure everything works. With that said, if you see anything on our website that doesn’t link correctly, please let us know.
We have thousands of links on our site, and what worked yesterday may not work today.
Website maintenance is ongoing and crucial to a successful Texas Longhorn Marketing campaign.

A strategy
A strategy to market Texas Longhorn Cattle is often the last thing breeders will think of when they purchase Texas Longhorn Cattle. We believe it should be the first.
What most Texas Longhorn Cattle Breeders do not realize is that marketing one’s longhorn herd is possibly one of the most important factors. We say this because it is so important to keep carrying capacity and stocking rate ratios in check, especially with limited acreage. In fact, maintaining a workable-sized longhorn herd is fundamental to maintaining a healthy herd. As a breeder, keeping your herd manageable means that, at some point, some longhorns will have to go.
Luckily, there are numerous options to sell Texas Longhorns.
These options include and are not restricted to the following:-
- Private treaty sales
- Online cattle auctions
- Local Sale Barn Sales
- Private cattle auctions
The above options have various pros and cons which differ depending on one’s objectives, budgets, and circumstances. (See Texas Longhorn Cattle Prices)
For example, although all cattle prices fluctuate depending on the industry at large, sale barn sales generally yield lower prices. In this scenario, breeders who sell their longhorns at the sale barn will require access to a trailer, and do not have to market much.
On the other hand, private cattle auctions have been known to attract wealthy buyers who inevitably drive up prices, especially for well-known genetics. These sales are not generated without marketing within the Texas Longhorn Cattle Breeders community. Similarly, Private Treaty sale fluctuate depending on longhorn genetics and a breeder’s reputation. Here, a successful marketing strategy is essential.
